LEROY (JIM) SANDERS 5/27/1929 - 9/23/2013 Leroy (Jim) Sanders, 84, passed away peacefully September 23, 2013 with his wife of 55 years by his side. A resident of the High Desert since 1970, he is survived by wife Nancy; daughter Susan Blum and her husband Michael; son Steven Sanders and his wife Cathleen; brothers Ernest Sanders and Kenneth Sanders; sisters Doris Scofield, Alice Blair, and Rosemary Kwilosz. He was preceded in death by his father, Emil, and mother, Louise, his brother Harry, and sisters Ella and Elsie. Jim was born in Capron, Illinois on May 27, 1929. He served in the Army, Air Force, and Civil Service for a total of 33 years, including tours in France, Germany, and Vietnam. He was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and the Elks Lodge. As a volunteer, he logged more than 200,000 miles driving veterans to the Veterans Hospital in Loma Linda. Our family is grateful to the entire staff at DVine Home for their exceptionally devoted daily care and Community Hospice for quality of life care. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 4th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Roy Rogers Dale Evans Chapel at Sunset Hills, 24000 Waalew Rd., Apple Valley. Donations to the local Disabled American Veterans or a Hospice organization are preferred in lieu of flowers.
