Jacob Schmidt came to America on the ship the Rhone on July 26, 1834. He came with his wife Elizabeth Rauber and their children Jacob, Peter, Margaret, Wendel, and Elizabeth. They would have 4 more children Frances, Franklin, Nicholas and John. as they settled in Sawmill which became Perkinsville. Elizabeth Rauber Schmidt would die in Jan. 1850.

Unfortunately there is no headstone for Jacob. He is buried in the same lot as his son Peter and members of his family.

This photo is impossible to read. However it is likely the closest we are ever going to the marker for the final resting of Elizabeth and Jacob.
