Rodney died in Frederick. He had been in failing health for the past ten years. Death was unexpected.
Born in Ayer, Massachusetts, he was the son of Ben R. and Patricia (Trostle) Almond of Frederick. He lived most of his life in Maryland.
Mr. Almond graduated from Largo High School in Upper Marlboro, MD.
He was employed as a mechanic at Stups Garage in Frederick and was a multi-talented person. He retired on disability in 2000.
He enjoyed trains, fishing, being a NASCAR fan, working outside, and being with his nieces and nephews.
Mr. Almond was a member of Belair Baptist Church, Bowie, MD.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandmother, Bennye Almond, Marshall, TX; four sisters, Maris (Mrs. Daniel) Burke, Annapolis, MD, Shauna (Mrs. Michael) Uchytil, Farmington, MN, Kambra (Mrs. Robert) Minor, Walkersville, MD, and Janina (Mrs. Matt) Rice, Frederick; a good friend, Walter Summers, Frederick; five nieces; three nephews; and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade, MD with Pastor J. Kenneth Stalls officiating.
