Audrey was born on April 15, 1913, in rural Postville, Iowa, on the family farm as the youngest child of Wilhelm and Anna (Dabelstein) Beisker. She graduated from Postville High School and also became a Certified Nurses Aid.

On June 27, 1936, Audrey married Gilbert Schroeder in a private ceremony with only their mothers for witnesses. After a honeymoon in Chicago, they returned to the home Gilbert had built for his bride.

Through the years Audrey worked as cook and as a nurses aid. In 1962, she became the manager at the Sunset Home in Calmar, Iowa. Later she managed the Aase Haugen Home north of Decorah, Iowa, and then the Eastern Star Home in Decorah, Iowa. After retiring in 1976, she became a babysitter, house sitter and nurse to several residents of Postville.

She died at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville. She was survived by many nieces and nephews.
