GRIFFIN — Rodney Louis Simmons, 38, of Griffin, Ind., died Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Rodney was born on September 23, 1967, the son of Edgar Allen and Gloria (Davis) Simmons.

He graduated from North Posey High School in 1986. He was sponsored by the National Kuwahara Bike racing team and had won many trophies on the BMX Bike Racing Circuit. He was on the Mel's Angels Team that competed all over the United States. Rodney worked at Ameriqual and at Whirlpool. He also was a volunteer fire fighter for Griffin/Bethel Township Volunteer Fire Department. Rodney loved to cook and bake lots of delicious goodies. He also enjoyed fishing and four wheeling. His cats, Tipsy, Hitcher and Tigger, were his constant companions.

He is survived by his parents, Edgar Allen and Gloria Simmons of Griffin, Ind.; his brother, Jeff Simmons and his wife Ronda, of Evansville, Ind.; and his brother, Eric Simmons of San Diego, Calif.; two nephews, Dakota and Noah Simmons; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Katheryn Conyers, and Edgar Sr. and Phoebe Simmons.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2005, at Werry Funeral Home, Poseyville Chapel with Revs. Larry Conyers and Teresa M. Ely officiating. Burial will be in Bethsaida Cemetery, Stewartsville, Indiana.

Friends may call at the Werry Funeral Home, Poseyville Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to service Saturday.
