Harold A Jones, age 93, lifelong Judson Township, Blue Earth County resident, died peacefully Thursday, April 17, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Cambria Presbyterian Church with Rev. Penny Johnson, officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Jerusalem Cemetery, rural Lake Crystal. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Monday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to Mayo Clinic Hospice – Mankato or the Cambria Presbyterian Church.

Harold was born October 25, 1920 to John Bunyan and Tryphena Mary (Pugh) Jones in Judson Township, Blue Earth County. He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1939. Harold served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II as a corporal in the Pacific Theater from September 30, 1942 until he was honorably discharged on December 5, 1945. Harold was united in marriage to E. Renée Hendricks on June 30, 1947 at the Jerusalem Presbyterian Church Parsonage in Judson. Harold worked as a hired man for farmers before his time in the military. Upon his return from the service he worked for Goodell Sawmill in Judson, the Union Pacific Railroad on a section crew. Harold started farming with his father in 1949 and then on his own until retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Cambria Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a Sunday school teacher, youth advisor, and an Elder. He was also a member of the Cambria American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, dancing to old time music, watching Bandwagon and the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. His family was very important to him and he cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and taking part in their activities.

Harold is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Renée of rural Lake Crystal; four daughters, Nancy (Keith) Frette of Sioux City, IA; Sue Jones of Chandler; Kathy (special friend, Tom Betcher) Erickson of Prior Lake; Becky (Calvin) Tate of Lake Crystal; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one expected in October; two sisters-in-law, Caroline Jones of Mankato and Barb Hendricks of Big Cyprus, Tennesse; brother-in-law and sister-in- law, Tom and Mary Hendricks of North Mankato; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; infant son; daughter, Mary Jean Bottenfield on June 14, 2010; son-in-law, Paul Erickson on May 21, 2005; twin granddaughters, Wendy Sue and Wanda Jean Erickson; brother, John "Jack" Hayden Jones; sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Lloyd Jones, two brothers-in-law, John "Hank" Hendricks and William "Benny"
