She was born March 23, 1920, in Bloomington, the daughter of Fred and Johanna Oertwig Mueller. She married Bernard Jacobs on Aug. 31, 1944, in Bloomington. He died in April 1967.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dennis; and one sister, Helen Toepke.
Gertrude was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lexington and a member of Ladies Aid Society. Her Christian faith and beliefs were a very important part of her life and she loved religious music, in addition to family activities.
She attended to Trinity Lutheran Grade School in Bloomington and Normal Community High School.
Gert was a loving mom, sister, grandma and great-grandma who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She always looked for the best in people and appreciated even the smallest things in life.
