David Sanderson

David Sanderson, age 68, of Electra, Texas, passed away Saturday morning, April 19, 2014, at the Hospice Center in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra, with Rev. Tom Medley, pastor of University United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls, officiating. Interment will follow in the Electra Memorial Park in Electra.

Mr. Sanderson was born October 30, 1945 in Sterling City, Texas. He grew up on a west Texas cattle ranch and immediately after high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After his first term with the Army, he reenlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Navy Seal where he was a decorated war hero who served three tours in Vietnam. He was awarded five Purple Hearts, and numerous Medals of Valor. After his distinguished military career, he became a boilermaker and pipefitter and made his living as a welder for the rest of his life. He was a hard worker who never "shook a task".

He and Glenda Sue Jones were married July 9, 1995 in Electra.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda of Electra; two daughters, Tammy Jacobs, and her husband Terry of Electra, and Mistee Dawn Kirk and her husband Bryan, of Wichita Falls; two sons, Spencer David Sanderson and Wesley Wade Sanderson, both of Wichita Falls; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Charalot Sanderson; his mother, Carmen Daves; his sister, Iva Carol Jones; and by his grandparents who raised him, Spencer and Pearl Lee Jackson.

Those serving as Pallbearers will be Spencer Sanderson, Wesley Sanderson, John Trahan, Mike Minderman, Justin Berg, Terry Jacobs, and James Obney. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Nason and Cameron Schlegel.
