Two Rivers Boy Is Polio Victim
Thirteen year old Richard Harold Beitzel, 1713 21st street, Two Rivers, is Manitowoc County's first victim of infantile paralysis of 1950.

The Beitzel boy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Beitzel, Two Rivers, died at 1:30 Tuesday morning at Holy Family hospital, Manitowoc of bulbar poliomyelitis. He was stricken suddenly at 7:30 Monday night at his Two Rivers home. He complained of feeling ill Saturday afternoon and was confined to his home until his removal to the hospital Sunday night.

Private funeral services will be held at St. Luke Catholic church, Two Rivers at 9 o'clock Thursday morning, the Rev. Lawrence A. Stingle officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross cemetery. The body is at the Klein and Stangel Inc., funeral home, Two Rivers.

Richard Harold Beitzel was born in Two Rivers in 1937, the only child of the Archie Beitzels. A student in the seventh grade of St. Luke parochial school, he was interested in all sports. Early in July he injured both feet in a softball game on the 18th street Two Rivers playground and was not able to further participate in athletic activities.

The Beitzel boy was a member of the Junior Catholic Order of Foresters and Z.C. B. J. lodge of Two Rivers.
