He united with the Olive Branch Church at an early age and served as a faithful deacon until he became ill.
He united in holy matrimony to Miss Carrie Mitchell. They were blessed with 13 children.

Jones, San Francisco, Ca, Paul Jones, Matthew Jones both of Oakland, Ca and Jimmie Dell Jones, Vestal, NY; five of the thirteen children were deceased at an early age; three sisters, Gracie Lyons of Houston, Tx, Jeanette McCovy of Denver, Co, Bessie Meeks of Waukegan, Ill, Dora Jean Atkins of Muskegon, MI (deceased); two brothers, John Jones, Jr., of Richmond, Ca, J.
