Graveside memorial services will be Friday in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo.
Roberta was born Nov. 10, 1918, in Cortland, Ohio, to Fae Leiter Stinson and John Bruce Stinson. She was raised on a farm near Cortland and attended Fowler Ridge, Ohio Public Schools and Warren Business College. She married a Marine, Fred L. Cole, on May 3, 1941, in Washington, D.C.
Throughout her life Roberta kept a wonderful home for her family. She was a loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also worked for the Navy Department and the Nuclear Regulatory Agency as a seamstress, upholsterer, real estate agent, bookkeeper, income tax preparer and as a small business owner. She was a member of the DAR, the Republican Party, a Girl Scout troop leader, a Sunday school teacher, an avid gardener and family genealogist. Roberta and Fred resided in Virginia, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Fae Leiter Stinson; her father, John Bruce Stinson; her siblings, Robert Stinson, William Stinson, Margaret Stinson Stanley and Beatrice Stinson Stone; and her husband, Fred L. Cole.
Survivors include two sons, David L. Cole and Bruce F. Cole; two daughters-in-law, Barbara Cole and Glenda Cole; two daughters, Roberta Jean Cole Killgore and Margaret Cole; her grandchildren, John Cole and wife Louise, Terri Lynn Cole, Nona K. Sanders and husband Jim, Pansy K. Cornett and husband Brian, Dakota Cole, Cari Rowland, Deborah Lynch, Deborah K. Smith and husband Louis, Kathleen K. Tilton, Kimberly K. Allday and husband Steve and Leonard Killgore III and wife Sandra; and 26 grandchildren.
