DR A WILLIAM OLSON

A private graveside service, conducted by Father Paul Dahm, was held Saturday, March 24, 1973 in Sterling Cemetery, Greenport, NY for Doctor A William Olson, who died Thursday, March 22 at Eastern Long Island Hospital following a long illness.

Dr Olson was born in Greenport on October 5, 1903. Upon completion of his medical studies at Syracuse University and the Brooklyn Hospital, he practiced in Brooklyn until his enlistment in the Army with the 79th General Hospital. The unit served in Ireland, England and France. Upon his discharge, Dr Olson returned to practice in Greenport and continued until 1966, when he retired because of failing health. During his active years, he was a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Suffolk County Medical Society, held various positions on the medical staff of Eastern Long Island Hospital, served on the Greenport School Board, and was Greenport Fire Department doctor.

Dr Olson is survived by his wife, Marion Hayes Olson; a son, Commander A William Olson, Jr USN; a daughter, Mrs John G Hansen, a sister, Mrs Clifford E Crafts, eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
