"Military funeral services for Wayne Krueger, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Krueger, 2001 28th St., the first Two Rivers Navy casualty in the Korean conflict, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, the Rev. W.G. Haase officiating. Interment will be in Forest View Cemetery. The Eleven Gold Star post 1248, Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in charge of the rites.

"Seaman Krueger was killed aboard the U.S.S. Ulvert M. Moore, a destroyer escort, through enemy action of Korea Oct. 17. Wayne Krueger enlisted in the Navy at Green Bay on Jan. 3 of this year with his former high school classmate, Dale Benzinger. Sent to the naval training station at Great Lakes, Ill., he completed his basic training on March 10 and after the customary leave was assigned to the Moore upon which ship he had since served. After brief service in Hawaiian waters the craft had been in active duty off Korea.

"He was born in Two Rivers in 1931. He attended St. John's parochial school and was graduated from Washington High School with the class of 1949. He entered the employ of the Aluminum Goods Company in September of 1949 and was placed on military leave early in January this year.

"Besides his parents Seaman Krueger leaves a sister, Doris, at home; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Maigatter of Two Rivers, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Anna Krueger of Merrill, Wis"
