Obituary:

V. E. "Jack" Huff, 85, of 618 Somerset St., Murphysboro, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 1979, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale after a brief illness.

Mr. Huff was a retired Illinois Central Railroad agent and telegraph operator. He spent 49 years with the St. Louis division of the railroad.

He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and the Brotherhood of Railroad Telegraphers.

He was also a member of the Church of Christ in Carbondale.

He was born May 31, 1894, in Woodville, Miss., to D. W. and Mary Lanehart Huff.

He was married to Pearl Brooks who preceded him in death April 7, 1977. He later was married to Helen Silvey.

Survivors include his wife of Murphysboro; one daughter, Frances Jones of Atwood, Tenn.; two sisters, Myrtis McClelland of New Orleans, La., and George A. Huff of Baton Rouge, La; and one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
