Richard T. "Rick" Byrkett, 52, of Seymour, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014, surrounded by family.
Born January 21, 1962, in Lebanon, Indiana, he was the son of LaDonne (Campbell) Woodrum and James Byrkett. He married his high school sweetheart, Dana Wethington, on March 12, 1983 and they cherished the 31 years they shared together.
Rick was a graduate of Lebanon High School. He worked various positions at Cummins in Columbus and Seymour for fifteen years, lastly as Global Parts Return Operations Manager.
Rick valued higher education and was grateful that he was able to pursue and obtain his Bachelors of Science degree (earning distinction Cum Laude) in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2009.
He also enjoyed travel, golf, fishing, cards, racing, outdoors and simple times socializing with family and friends. He was a member of the Moose and Eagles Lodges.
Besides his wife Dana and his parents, he is also survived by a daughter and son, Brooke and Eric Byrkett of Seymour; three grandchildren, Briley Barker, Chase Vogel, Jaylee Burkhart; a sister, Rene Sharkey; two brothers, Randy Byrkett and Ryon Woodrum.
Funeral services will be held at Voss Chapel on Wednesday, April 23, at 10:30 AM with Rev. Lewis Wright officiating.
Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour.
Family and friends may call at Voss Chapel on Tuesday, from 4:00-8:00 PM and on Wednesday, from 9:30 AM until time of service.
