John R. Kilgore Sr., 69, of Logansport, passed away at 6:35 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2014, in Chase Center.. Born May 1, 1944, in Maysville, Ky., he was the son of Richard and Clara Ethyl Grigsby Kilgore.. On Dec. 31, 1961, in Maysville, he was married to Sylvia Jean Fryman, who survives and resides in Logansport.. John was retired in 2002 from Pepsi-Cola (Hoosier Refreshment), where he had been a route salesman for 32 years.. An outdoorsman to the fullest, he was an avid big-game hunter, with 25 continuous years of trips to Montana. He also enjoyed gardening.. John was the very best dad in the world. With his kind heart, he would help anyone with anything.. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, John R. Kilgore Jr., and daughter, Teresa (Mark) Josephson, all of Logansport; brother, William Stanley (Imogene) Kilgore, Lawrence, Kan.; and sister, Edith Swanger, Maysville, Ky.. Also surviving are grandchildren, Edward Lee Schoenradt and Courtney Schoenradt (Mitch Jensen); and great-grandchildren, Marissa Schoenradt and Dietmar Jensen.. He was preceded by two brothers, Danny Kilgore and Richard Kilgore.. The funeral service will be noon Friday at Kroeger Funeral Home, with the Rev. Roger Budde officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
