Mrs. Mildred Earline Matthews, age 79 of Anna, died at 11:23 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014 in the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born September 12, 1934 in Braggadocio, Missouri, the daughter of Elmer and Lena Erwin Gibbs. She married Charles A. Dillow Sr. on June 4, 1951. He preceded her in death on September 27, 2005. Mildred later married Walter Matthews on September 24, 2010 in Paducah, KY.

Mildred is survived by her loving husband, Walter Matthews of Anna; children, Paula J. (Gardner) Strauch of Suwanee, GA, Sandra J. (Jim) Fisher of Dongola; Charles A. (Marsha K.) Dillow of Russlleville, AL, Carl Gene Matthews of Carmi; seven grandchildren, Tamara M. Pirkle, Derek K. Strauch, Lisa Reese, Guy Wetherington III, Andria Thurm, Jenesia Ordonia, Charles Dillow III; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Richardson of Anna, Delores Barton of St. Charles, MO; one brother, Raymond Eugene Gibbs of Anna; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Charles A. Dillow Sr.; two brothers, Paul and Charles Gibbs; and one sister, Lorene Benedette.

Mildred was a member of the Jehovah's Witness in Murphysboro. Mildred's favorite book was the bible; she made it her mission in life to witness to people.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Earline Matthews will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Brother John Bloomingstock officiating. Interment will be in the Casper Cemetery in Anna. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. and until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Memorial contributions may be made to the Matthews Family. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
