William Henry Sayers was born in Athol Township, Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. Around 1881, he emigrated to Muskegon County, Michigan, USA with several of his adult siblings, including my great-great-great-grandmother, Mahala Sayers Wilkinson.

William was married twice; his first wife was Ella Mae Steimers (1866 - 1912), with whom he had at least three children: Ethel Mae (b. 1886); Fern (b. 1889); and a son who died in infancy (1904). After Ella's death, he married a widower, Alma Grant Sadler (b. c. 1865).

He died in Whitehall Village on December 29, 1917, and was buried next to his first wife, Ella.
