Born in Spring Grove, PA on December 09, 1943, he was the son of the late William & Mabel (Lehigh) Maus.
John retired from the National Park Service after many years of service as a work leader. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the U. S. Army.
His memberships included American Legion Post #202 in Gettysburg, 40 & 8 Club, VFW Post #15, Gettysburg Eagles, Fairfield AmVets, and the Adams County Fish and Game Association.
John was very proud to have served with the Adams County Allied Veterans Military Honor Guard for over 25 years and 2,000 burial services.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Patricia A. (Kessel) Maus, four daughters; Debra Ulring of Hanover, PA., Tina Mason of York, PA, Linda Wiley of Dover, PA and Crystal James of Bear Station, PA, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren, two brothers, William Maus of Gettysburg and Bob Maus of York, PA.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Jesse James.
Interment with full military honors provided by his fellow Adams County Allied Veterans will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens
