He was born in Thornburg, Iowa. He moved to the Quad City area as an infant and moved to Milan in 1945. He married Gladys Cole in January 1945.
Mr. Manary had been employed at Roth Pump Co., Milan, and later at Red's Doughnut Shop in Rock Island from 1958 to 1963. He was a maintenance man at Bring'er Inn in Milan from 1968 to 1973 when he retired.
He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Milan American Legion Post 569; Knights of Pythias, Milan Lodge 477 and was past chancellor. He was a member of Black Hawk Temple 254, Pythian Sisters, Milan, and DOKK Tigris Temple 219, Milan.
Survivors include his widow; two sons, Dennis C., Moline, and Bruce E., Davenport; a step-son, Charles "Chick", Cole, Milan; two step-daughters, Mrs. Francis Moody, Rock Island, and Mrs. Roger Figg, Milan; 25 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale, Taylor Ridge, four sisters, Mrs. William Pauley, Mrs. William Rettig and Mrs. Vera Orwig, all of Milan, and Mrs. Peggy Ervin, Keithsburg, and his step-mother, Mrs. Ruth Manary, Milan.
