Veteran,
Clifford C. Ard, 83 yearof age, of Somerset and Naomi Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, April 16th, 2014 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Lexington Kentucky.
Clifford was born on August 11th, 1930, son of the late Chester and Ella Ard. He served in the United States Marines and was a farmer in the Naomi community of Pulaski County, Kentucky. He served with Gideons International as a speaker for many years as well as singing in several gospel choirs, trios and quartets throughout his life.
Clifford was survived by his loving wife, Irene Tarter Ard of Somerset, Kentucky; one daughter, Beverly Sumner of Somerset, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Tabitha Jo (and David) Morgan of Nancy, Kentucky; two grandsons, Cheston Garner and Michael Garner, both of Nancy, Kentucky; four great grandchildren, Mason Morgan, Audra Morgan, Samuel Morgan, and Wyatt Morgan; two sisters, Elfreda Ard Jones of Lexington, Kentucky and Earlene Ard Burton of Science Hill Kentucky; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Ard, who departed this life on August 9th, 1975 and Ella Ard, who departed this life on September 17th, 1994; two brothers, Kenneth Ard, who departed this life on March 22nd, 1993 and Vertrees Ard, who died in infancy on August 2nd, 1923; two sisters, Geneva Ard Roberts and Havena Ard Hudson; and his previous wife, Veta Mae Buchanan Ard, who departed this life on May 6th, 2000.
Visitations were held after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19th, 2014 at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19th, 2014 in the Chapel of the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
His pallbearers were his nephews as well as his grandson-in-law, David Morgan and his great grandson, Mason. His honorary pallbearers were: Samuel Morgan and Wyatt Morgan.
Burial followed in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Naomi (Nancy), Kentucky.
