Jack Verlon Casey, 78 of Amarillo passed away April 18, 2014. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Lifeway Fellowship, 3315 Hancock with Rev. Randy Davis officiating. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors. Jack Verlon Casey was born December 16, 1935 in Amarillo to Ira Casey and Evelyn Casey York. He died Friday, April 18, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Jack was an exceptional athlete and local hot rodder in his high school days before joining the U.S. Marine Corp in 1955. A TRUE Mustang he achieved the rank of Captain during his 22 ½ year career. He earned the Bronze Star during his tour in Viet Nam. After his military career he retired in Oceanside, California. In 1995 he returned to Amarillo. He was most recently a historian and volunteer at English Field and Texas Air and Space Museum. Jack was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend and he will be greatly missed. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and sons, Shawn Timothy Casey and Jay Christopher Casey. Jack is survived by his wife, Bobbie Casey of Amarillo; sons, Rebb Casey and wife Judy of Fallbrook, California and Tommy Casey and wife Pattie of Amarillo; daughters, Robin Casey of Oceanside, California and Theresa Lantz and husband Paul of Oceanside, California; brothers, Marshall and Tommy York; sisters, Jeannette Angel, Kathleen Wade, Diana Casey, Cheryl Osburn and Annette Musto; grandsons, Justin Casey, Austin Casey, Timmy Casey, Casey Turner, Tyler Casey and Ethan Lantz; also by his great-grandson, Micah Casey. The family suggests in lieu of flowers that memorials be sent to the VA Hospital, Amarillo, Texas. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the entire staff of Hospice Care of the Southwest for their devoted care and love for Jack while he was in their care
