He was born Sunday, December 31, 1972 at Elkins, WV, the beloved son of Paul "Romie" and Carris Ann Higgins Griffith, who survive at Elkins. Also surviving are four uncles, Leon Joseph "Bud" Higgins and wife Carol Jean; Donald Lee Higgins and wife Judy; Gary Griffith and wife Lois Jean; Charles Griffith and wife Nan; five aunts, Carra Bell Markley and husband Jessie; Betty Jo Bennett and husband Richard "Rick"; Evelyn Nelson and husband Mark; Maxine Miller and husband Jerry; Nancy Griffith; and several cousins.
Preceding him in death are his maternal grandparents, Cletis and Geneva Delaine Hoover Higgins; his paternal grandparents, Lester Franklin and Ora Etta Watson Griffith; and one uncle, Carlton Cletis Higgins.
Mark was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1992, attended Davis & Elkins College and was a graduate of the Welding School at the Fred W. Eberle Technical Center at Buckhannon. He had worked as a certified welder for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local # 152 at Morgantown, WV, enjoyed hunting and fishing, collecting knives and dearly loved his two cats, "Jessie" and "Shine". He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity at Davis & Elkins College and was a protestant by faith.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to all of the nieces and nephews for all their help during our time of need.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Friday. The casket will remain closed. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 2 PM. The Rev. Eli D. Hostetler will officiate and Mark's request for cremation will then be honored. Interment will follow at a later date at the Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Airport Road
