Mrs. Karen T. (Sissy) Watts, of Glasgow, Virginia, transitioned from earth to glory on Friday, April 11, 2014, at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville, Virginia.

She was born September 11, 1952, to the late Deacon James E. and Deaconess Fannie T. Thompson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers; and her father-in-law, Charles R. Watts.

Sissy accepted Christ at an early age and joined Ebenezer, now Union Baptist Church. She was a devoted member and especially enjoyed her work with the kitchen ministry. Many people referred to it as "Sissy's Kitchen."

Sissy was educated in the public school system of Rockbridge County. While a student at Natural Bridge High, she was a member of what was known as the "High School Gang." Other members of the gang were, Frances Halsey, Majorie Watts Valeatinos, Pam Scott Keith, Doris Mitchell Brown and Brenda Hunt.

She was a dedicated and tireless employee of Burlington (Mohawk) Industries for more than 40 years.

Sissy was very devoted to her entire family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 41 years, Thomas L. Watts; four children, Michael S. Watts, Adrian M. Watts, Megan G. Watts and Aaron T. Watts; three granddaughters, Aliya, Riley and Zoe Watts; one grandson, Ayden Watts; two stepgrandchildren, Tyler and Piper; three brothers, James (Kay), Meshach (Connie) and Adrian (Carolyn); two sisters, Alease and Emily (Ronald); two aunts, Costella Scott and Ersyln Turner; her mother-in-law, whom she loved dearly, Helen Q. Watts; numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Union Baptist Church, Glasgow, with the pastor Dr. Horace Rice officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 15 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church. Services are entrusted to the care of Franklin-Hutcherson Funeral Home, Lynchburg, Virginia.
