Roxy was blind from birth and was migrating from Oklahoma to California with Benjamin Harrison Calvert and her daughter Lena Belle Tippit. Benjamin Harrison Calvert served 6 years in prison for selling moonshine they lost their Hog farm forcing them to move west to Fresno California. She became very ill along the way and was placed in Arizona State Hospital where she died and was buried in an unmarked grave in the Hospital Cemetery.
