Laura Jean Patton, 91, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 in her home.

Mrs. Patton was born in 1922, in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late Robert and Nettie May Forney.
She was a graduate of John Handley High School, Class of 1940 and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. Mrs. Patton was employed at Commercial & Savings Bank and later became the secretary for Patton Moving and Storage and Patton's Furniture Sales, for over 25 years.
In her spare time Jean was involved with the Red Cross and enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and playing the piano, "by ear". She will forever be remembered for the love of her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Jean was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church in Winchester, Virginia. She was faithful to her church all her life and was a member of the Wesley Golden Rule Sunday school class.
She married Harold Douglas Patton on March 31, 1946, in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with her husband is her daughter, Marian P. Bradshaw and her husband Steve of Thomasville, Georgia; son, Bruce Eugene Patton and his wife Bobbi of Winchester, Virginia; four grandchildren, Kathryn L. Bradshaw of Jacksonville, Florida, Matthew C. Bradshaw and his wife Alaina of Thomasville, Georgia, Jennifer L. Collins and husband James of Charlottesville, Virginia and Kevin M. Patton and his wife Kristen of Winchester, Virginia; seven great grandchildren, Maya, Dylan, Brayden, Alyssa, Johnathan, Michelle, and Amelia.
Two brothers Robert Forney and Billy P. Forney preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Westminster Canterbury upstairs in The Commons.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 PM on Friday at Braddock Street United Methodist Church with Reverend Kirk Nave officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
