BIOGRAPHY
Maurine Johnson was born in Linden, Texas on February 13, 1921 to Otis and Netty Johnson.

She was the eldest of 11 children. When she was of age, she married Louis Haskins and gave birth to her only daughter. Throughout the years working as a housekeeper and through the lost of her husband she left Texas and moved to Portland to be closer to her daughter and new granddaughter.

During this time she worked as a cook. She then accepted a position at, what is now the OHSU, working in central supply as a clerk. Eventually it led to her becoming the Lead Supervisor where she then retired. During this time she met Elijah Jenkins who she married. Together they raised his 2 children. After his death she moved closer to her daughter. And after raising her 5 grandchildren, she then moved in with her daughter, where they lived together for 20 years.

On the glorious, beautiful morning of April 8th, 2014, the earth stood still one last time as she took her leave to Heaven. It has been said that her daughter came to take her home. They are together again as they were her on earth and now in Heaven.

Those preceding her in death: Her daughter, Margaret Lewis; and her siblings, Otis, Allvis aka (Red), May, Merle, Emma Lee, Linda and Willie aka (Wil).

Maurine Jenkins is survived by her sisters, Eloise Walden, Mary Lou Nelson, Opal Woods, Verdie Turner, and Berdie Hall, whom are all from California; her son, Samuel Jenkins; granddaughter, Felecia Lewis; grandchildren, Jontel H., Doneish B., Vincent H., Ayasha B., and Chekaya O.; great grandchildren Dejauzsa T., Shawntana C., Anthony C., Zion J., Victor T., Rian T., and Zaryn I.; great great grandson Carmelo CC., whom are all from Portland; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." The 23rd Psalm
