Mrs. Lillian V. “Lal” Abel, 90, of Louisiana, Missouri passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana.
A Mass of The Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2014 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Louisiana, Missouri. Father Lou Dorn will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m, Monday, April 21st at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Louisiana.
Lal was born August 3, 1923 in Riverside, Illinois the daughter of Frank and Julia Baltumek. She met Alfred “Al” Abel in Chicago, Illinois during World War II and they were married shortly afterward. After they were married they returned to Louisiana, Missouri to make their home.
After returning to Louisiana Al and Lal Able and his two brothers Ray and Ann Abel and Charley and Nancy Able founded the Abel Oil Company.
She is survived by two sons; Allan Abel of Louisiana, Missouri and Gary Abel of Boise, Idaho, 6 Grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Lal was preceded in death by her husband Al Abel who died February 9, 2001 and a daughter, Janet K. Chesser.
Honorary pallbearers are; Cam Gray, Charles Chesser and Roger Plate. Active pallbearers are; Raymond Abel, Mark Abel, Matt Maurer, Ben Singleton, Chad Chesser and Chris Chesser.
Memorials may be given to: Pike County Home Health & Hospice, St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery or the Pike County Country Club Tree Fund.
