Thomas Leonard Houston was born in Dow City, Iowa on July 13, 1937, the son of George "Ben" and Laura Wilder Houston, the thirteenth child of their twenty children. He passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at his home at the age of seventy-six.

Tom grew up in Dow City and attended the Dow City Schools. In 1956, he entered the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1957. On May 4, 1958 he was united in marriage to Jeanette June Justice. The couple was blessed with the birth of seven children.

Tom worked for his father doing bulldozer work and later drove for Greyhound Bus Lines for 30 years. He was a very kind and loving man who enjoyed playing cards with friends. He also enjoyed his grandchildren.

Tom is preceded in death by parents; eight brothers: Robert, Jack, Don, George, James, Eddie, Bill and Russell; six sisters: Margaret, Marian , Betty, Lois, Jane and Kay; six brothers-in-law: George, Donald, Otis, Victor, Jim and Virgil; four sisters-in-law: Peggy, Kathleen, Una and Charlene. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; four sons: Tom and his wife, Vicki; Norman and his wife, Maria; Jon; Michael and his wife, Traci; three daughters: Carmen and her husband, Don; Lori and her husband, Randy; Alison and her husband, Doug; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three brothers: Jerry; Roger and his wife, Helen; and Ken and his wife, Rita; two sisters: Helen; and Connie and her husband, Ron; one sister-in-law, Barbara; one brother-in-law Roger; many other relatives and friends.
