John Alva Brown was the son of Elias Brown and Barbary Life. He married Sarah Margaret Fitzpatrick on Nov. 28, 1884 in Jane Lew, Lewis County, West Virginia. (according to the marriage records their marriage license was issued on Nov. 27, 1884). Sarah died before the 1920 census in January 1920 was done. According to the death certificate, John A. went to live with daughter, Barbara Flanagen in Plymouth, Ohio 6 weeks prior to his death. He died in Plymouth, Ohio & his burial was in Broad Run Baptist Church Cemetery near Jane Lew, W. Va.
