He owned and operated Darryl's Auto Sales in Whiteville. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He graduated from Whiteville High School, attended Sandhill's Community College and graduated with honors from St. Andrews Presbyterian College with a BS degree.
He is survived by his mother, Bettye Carter; two sisters, Dena Carter Mullins and husband, Timothy of Whiteville, DeLynda Carter Ward and husband, John of Wilkesboro; sister-in-law, Shannon Carter of Hallsboro; nephews, Robert Mullins and wife, Dora of Whiteville, Thomas Mullins of Wilmington, Tyler Ward of Wilkesboro, Parker Ward of Wilkesboro, Glen Carter of Hallsboro, Justin Combs of Hallsboro, Chanin Stocks of Tabor City; nieces, Copeland Ward of Wilkesboro, Mandy Skipper of Whiteville; his friend and business manager, James Watts of Nakina; his caregiver, Timothy Brooks of Hallsboro.
His funeral service will be conducted 3:00 pm Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at First Baptist Church by Dr. Ron Hinson. Burial will be in Peacock's Columbus Memorial Park.
