Susan Ruggeri Hubbard entered into eternal rest on April 16, 2014 after succumbing to cancer.
Susan was born to parents Attilio and Adeline Ruggeri on January 5, 1938 in San Francisco, California, the youngest daughter in the Ruggeri family of five sisters and one brother. In July 1943, the family moved from San Francisco to San Bruno.
Susan attended Our Lady of Angels elementary school in Burlingame, where the piano lessons she took from Sr. Mary Deshanto brought much joy to family and friends who heard Susan play music so beautifully over the years.
After graduating from Capuchino High School in Millbrae, she began work and enjoyed a career at the Stanford Research Institute, where she met future husband, Scott Hubbard. They were married in August 1982 and had a long and happy marriage. Susan traveled extensively with Scott on his work assignments for NASA and Stanford, at one point residing for over a year in Washington, D.C., as well as enjoying visits to such countries as Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Australia, the Czech Republic, and Egypt.
Throughout her life, Susan had broad ranging interests: from following the San Francisco 49ers to the arts. She was an avid reader and loved music of all kinds – attending many concerts and shows with Scott. Susan was also a devotee of great movies, old and new and a dedicated supporter of the San Francisco Opera. One evening she always treasured was seeing Luciano Pavarotti and Mirella Freni perform La Boheme.
Susan was also very interested in the politics of the day – local, state and Federal. Whether penning a letter to the editor, sending an e-mail to a pundit or calling the White House operator, she was engaged and knowledgeable. In discussing any of these topics, Susan's infectious laugh and ready wit were a delight to all who knew her.
Susan was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Ruggeri, and sister, Carolyn Pardini. She is survived by her beloved husband, Scott Hubbard, sisters Aldean Simi, Donna Burdick and Julie Tuckey, as well as many loving nieces and nephews, their spouses and children. She will be greatly missed by the family and friends who have loved her so much.

Visitation will be held at the Crosby-N. Gray & Co. Funeral Home, 2 Park Road, Burlingame from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday April 21, 2014. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm. A funeral liturgy will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, also at Crosby-N. Gray & Co. , followed by interment at the Italian Cemetery in Colma.
