Sarah E. Beighley was born in Butler County, Penn, Nov 6, 1835 and died in her home in Shell Rock Feb. 22, 1907 aged 71 years 3 mo. and 16 days. She was married to William H. Beighley[sic] on the 3rd of February, 1857 in the town of Mercer, Penn. To this union ten children were born, three of them dying in infancy, Hampton P., Milton G., Lizzy B. Reep, John D., Susanna M., Anna L. and William H., all living the town of Shell Rock, together with her husband, survive her. Mr. and Mrs. Beighley[sic] with their children came to the town of Shell Rock, Freeborn Co. in 1868, settling on the farm which has since been their home. In the year 1870, she joined the M. E. church of which she was a member until 1883 when she joined the Free Methodist church of which she remained a consistent member until her death. During her sickness she suffered much but was ever mindful of those around her often expressing her appreciation of their loving care. A few days before she passed away she called her children to her and exhorted them to meet her in the better world. Funeral services were held at the house Sunday morning and the remains were interred in the State Line Cemetery. The family have the sympathy of many friends in their affliction.
