Bernard O. Stone was born in Fremont, Nebraska, on November 10, 1934 to Walter & Ruth (Bernard) Stone, and passed away on April 8, 2014 in Leavenworth, Kansas. He studied at Washburn University in Topeka, Arizona State and also at the studio of Emil Bisttram, where he was a member of the Taos Artists Association. In 1965, he earned a Master's Degree in Fine Art from the University of Kansas, Lawrence. In addition to being an accomplished artist, Bernard was also a life long professional and pioneer in art psychotherapy. In 1967 he was a founding member of the American Art Therapy Association. He is survived by his beloved companion Sylvia Stevens, Leavenworth, KS, and his four children Greg Stone (Cynthia), Ottawa, KS, Cindy Gerstymer (Bill) , Salisbury, MD, Becky Richmond (Brad), Overland Park, KS, and Jeff Stone (Lynn), Greendale, WI. He is also survived by his brother Jonpaul Stonehuerner (Jackie), Hillsborough, NC, and sister Diana Stone, Topeka, KS. Family will receive friends Monday, April 21, 2014, 1 to 2 P.M. with a Celebration of Life service at 2 P.M. at the Davis Chapel in Leavenworth with inurnment burial to follow on April 22, 2014 at Mt.
