Avis M. Pfister, 91, of Sturgeon Bay passed away at Whispering Heights on Oct. 4, 2013. She was born on July 3, 1922, in Egg Harbor to Herman and Adeline (Schultz) Meyer.

Avis graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1941, where she was a member of the marching band.

On Nov. 7, 1942, she married Roy Pfister. He preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 2003.

Avis was an avid sports fan who loved following the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers. She was a past member of the American Legion. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, doing word searches, and travelling. She loved her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include 7 children: Janice (Frank) Fontaine, De Pere, WI; Gary Pfister, Door County, WI; Dale (Bonnie) Pfister, Clearwater, FL; Peter Pfister, Casco, WI; Patti (Dan) Wiegand, Sturgeon Bay, WI; Joanne (Brad) Glafenhein, Port St. Lucie, FL; Jim Pfister, Lakeville, MN;
close family friend, Jim Lumley;
5 grandchildren: Kathy (Mike), Rachel, Chrissy, Mike, and Greg;
11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Ralph,
son-in-law, Gordon Harrington,
2 brothers: Arnold and Marvin,
and 1 sister Marion Miller.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay with the Rev. Darrick Kolterjahn officiating. Friends may call at the Forbes Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
