Clarence Wayne Carpenter, 81, of Waco, died at his home March 24, 2014, after a brief illness. A Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, at Central Christian Church in Waco with the Rev. Brian Coats and the Rev. Paul Carpenter officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room.

Clarence was born in Waco, Texas, to the late Clarence Anderson Carpenter and Jettie Marie Graham Carpenter. He graduated from Waco High School in 1949 and Baylor University in 1958. He met Charlotte Stinson, while he was a soda jerk at Blue Bird Ice Cream. They were married at Central Christian Church on March 16, 1951, and just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Throughout his lifetime he was involved in many civic organizations. He was a 50 year member of several groups including the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, Fidelis Masonic Lodge, Waco Scottish Rite and Karem Shrine. His work career spanned from being a letter carrier to Chief Financial Officer at Brazos Electric Coop.

For many years he enjoyed participating with Lake Air Little League and keeping up with boys that he had coached. Since his retirement, he has enjoyed playing golf and traveling, especially his family vacations.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; sons, Mark Carpenter and wife, Genie, of Irving, Bart Carpenter and wife, Kate, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Gahlen Carpenter, of Houston; daughters, Zoe Henson, and Donna Eberhardt and husband, Ron, of Coppell; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma Finissi and Joan Schroth; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
