Thomas J. "Tom" Covington, 90, Lillian, Ala.bama, formerly of Normal, Bloomington and Carlock, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Saturday (April 12, 2014) at Covenant Hospice, Pensacola, Florida.
He was born March 14, 1924 in Fresno, California, the son of Thomas Walter and Goldie Crisel Covington. He married Mary E. Blundy in 1944 in Paducah, Ky. She died March 28, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Craig Covington and one granddaughter, Amy McCollum.
Surviving are three children, Sheila (George) Roberts, Wayne (Debbie) Covington and Tracy (Gigi) Covington; five grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter; two great-grandchildren and one sister, Deloris Vaughn.
He worked for GTE, Bloomington, for more than 42 years; he was the director of engineering and construction, retiring Nov. 1, 1985.
