Don C. Shipley, 70
Don C. Shipley, 70, a resident of Mountain Home passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014, at the Baxter Regional Medical Center.
He was born August 31, 1943, in Mountain Home, Arkansas to Henry and Elsie (Clark) Shipley. Don retired from the United States Navy after 21 years of service. After his military service Don managed the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ozark Post 3246 in Mountain Home. He married Sandra Jean Munnia on November 22, 1990, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Don was a member of the Harmony Free Will Baptist Church and loved fishing and bowling. He was preceded in passing by his father, Henry Shipley.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Sandy Shipley of Mountain Home; a son, Steven Scott Shipley of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Shelley Shipley; his mother, Elsie Shipley of Mountain Home; two step-sons, Mike Smith of Akron, Ohio and Chris Smith of California; two step-daughters, Natalie Smith of California and Kim Smith of Mountain Home; two brothers, Gene Shipley of Mountain Home and LeRay Shipley of Hollister, Missouri; five grandchildren; our special angel, Haley and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2014, at the Conner-Hankins Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at the Harmony Free Will Baptist Church near Mountain Home with Brother Shane King officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ozark Post 3246 and the United States Navy Honor Guard will be in Galatia Cemetery near Norfork under the direction of Conner-Hankins Funeral Home.
