He was a private in the 75th Infantry, Company B in the Civil War under the State of Illinois. He enlisted December 26, 1863 and transferred to 21st Regiment June 7, 1865 as part of the 4th Army Corp. He was then in the 21st infantry, Company 1, and mustered out December 16, 1865.
Promoted to Full Corpl. Served Illinois Enlisted I Co. 21st Inf Reg. Illinois Mustered Out on 16 December 1863(M.O. as Corpl.)
Left Hutchinson Kansas. He went to Texas. Then moved to Denver Colorado for 10 years. Then he came to Alameda, California. Then he moved to Oakland, California.
