His parents: Adolphus Skinner Shottenkirk and Selina Foote.
He was married to Eliza Marie Rowe on 12 September 1867 in Kankakee, Kankakee County, Illinois. Their children: Bertha Nellie, Chauncey Walter, Albert Lynne, Guy Arthur, LeRoy, Percy, Luella Mae, Flora Mabel, Flora Mabel, and Rosa Leona Shottenkirk.

He was a private in the 75th Infantry, Company B in the Civil War under the State of Illinois. He enlisted December 26, 1863 and transferred to 21st Regiment June 7, 1865 as part of the 4th Army Corp. He was then in the 21st infantry, Company 1, and mustered out December 16, 1865.

Promoted to Full Corpl. Served Illinois Enlisted I Co. 21st Inf Reg. Illinois Mustered Out on 16 December 1863(M.O. as Corpl.)

Left Hutchinson Kansas. He went to Texas. Then moved to Denver Colorado for 10 years. Then he came to Alameda, California. Then he moved to Oakland, California.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral Monday, October 29, 1934, at 10:30 o'clock A.M. at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland. Friends may call at Truman's Telegraph Avenue and 30th Street, until 9 A.M. Monday.

He was cremated on October 29, 1934 at California Crematory. Information from Truman Company Funeral Home. We do not know where the Ashes were distributed.
