Genell was born June 28, 1917 in Flora, the daughter of Wayne and Maude (Blackwell) McVeigh. She grew up on a dairy farm west of Flora the oldest of 6 children.
Genell married Robert D. McDaniel during a ceremony at the First Christian Church in Flora on April 28, 1937. After celebrating 64 years of marriage, Robert passed away April 4, 2002.
Genell worked many years for the Mt. Carmel School District as secretary for both elementary and high school. She loved cooking and sewing for others and together, she and "Mac" enjoyed camping and fishing. Genell was a past member of Eastern Star and had been an active member of First Christian Church. Having the heart of a servant, even in her later years, Genell volunteered at the hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma until the age of 93.
She is survived by a daughter: Linda Kay (husband Larry) Pool; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a brother: Charles McVeigh; and a sister: Betty Wathan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother: Robert McVeigh, and sisters: Geneva Caldwell, Frances Wilson, and Kathryn Vaughan.
A graveside service for Hazel Genell McDaniel was conducted at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora where interment followed.
Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora was in charge.
