US Congressman. A member of the Republican Party, he served West Virginia's 3rd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives from 1981 until 1983. He attended Concord College in Virginia, prior to serving with the United States Army National Guard. He worked within the banking industry and rose to executive status, before entering the political arena. After his term in Congress ended, Staton held a position at the United States Chamber of Commerce.
