Richard Longnecker
Richard Longnecker, 80, of Lewisburg and Bradenton, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, at BrookHaven Nursing and Care Center in Brookville.
Born Jan. 19, 1917, in Lewisburg, he was the son of John A. and Marie (Dewitt) Longnecker. He was a 1935 graduate of Lewisburg High School, and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was agent and owner of Longnecker Insurance Agency in Eaton for more than 30 years. Mr. Longnecker was a board member and past board president of Buckeye State Mutual Insurance Company in Celina, a member of Paul Sodders Post #213 American Legion of Lewisburg, Libanus Lodge #80 F&AM of Lewisburg, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, and Calvary United Methodist Church in Lewisburg.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Marlene (Fleagle) Longnecker; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and James Adams of Pontiac, Ill.; four grandchildren, Gene Andrew Jordan Jr., Amy Elizabeth Lamermayer, Andrea Eva Robertson and Angela Maria Jordan; and one great-grandchild, Blake Robertson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Longnecker Jordan, in 1993; and a brother, James Longnecker.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Calvary United Methodist Church, Lewisburg, with the Rev. David Justis officiating. Burial, with military honors, was in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg. A Masonic service was conducted on Monday following viewing. Barnes Funeral Home-Lewisburg Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
