He was employed by Potomac Edison Co. for 34 years; and by M.P. Moller. He was a volunteer with Community Rescue Service and Washington County Hospital Auxiliary.
He is survived by a son, Michael Lee Thurmond of Hagerstown; a brother, Markwood L. Thurmond of Hagerstown; a niece, and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Marlin Thurmond.
Burial was at the convenience of the family; arrangements were by the Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.
