ADA - Gwena McBride, 91, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at her home following a brief illness.
Born Aug. 9, 1884, in Elida, she was a daughter of Andrew J. and Flora Baxter Stemen. On March 7, 1913, she married Bert McBride, who survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Robert, Andrew and Howard, all of here, and Nelson of Thoreau, N.M.; four daughters, Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Pizor of Uniontown, Ruth McBride of Columbus, Mrs. Ernest (Gertrude) Thompson of Rockford and Mrs. Clarence (Leota) Barker of Westfield, Ind.; 25 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Stanley Stemen of Van Wert; and four sisters, Helen Keefer and Lilian Click, both of Florida, Mary Anders of Warren, Ind., and Gertrude Johnson of Ohio City.
She was a member of Green Buer United Brethren Church in Van Wert County and attended the Ada Baptist Church.
Private family services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Hanson Funeral Home, Rev. Ray Shepard officiating. Burial will be in Allentown Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 tonight.
Memorials may be made to Crosslands Mission, Thoreau, N.M., or to the American Cancer Society.
