Born Dec. 19, 1943, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Granville Vaughn and Mildred Meldrom Vaughn Linton. He was the husband of Kay L. Vaughn, who died May 17, 2002.
He was a 1961 graduate of Westminster High School. He retired in June 1999 as a fireman with the Baltimore County Fire Department. He had also worked, prior to becoming a fireman, as a mechanic and machinist.
He was a competitive dancer when he was younger. He enjoyed working on Corvettes and classic muscle cars, collecting antiques and other various items, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his dogs.
Surviving are children and spouses Wayne G. Vaughn II and Diana Wallace, of Hampstead, Ladonna Vaughn-Crowl and Jerry Crowl, of Westminster, Douglas and Ma Victoria Vaughn, of Finksburg, and Malinda K. Rothenberger, of Finksburg; a sister, Lenora Brown-Steinfeldt, of Sykesville; stepbrother Charles Linton and wife Jilda, of Silver Spring; companion Teresa Fringer, of Finksburg; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
