Elsie Hazel Buck, 89, of Davenport formerly of Nevada died Friday of pneumonia at the Genesis Medical Center, Davenport. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nevada, with pastor David Ketelsen of the Davenport Seventh-day Adventist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Elsie Hazel Mack was born in Loyal, Wis., to Nicholas and Mary (Graham) Mack. She married Ira L. Buck on Aug. 17, 1930, in Battle Creek, Mich. He preceded her in death in 1976. She had lived in Nevada since 1947, spending her last two years in Davenport.

She had attended Andrew University in Berrien Springs, Mich., for two years. She had been employed for 20 years as a social worker with the Story County Department of Social Welfare. She retired in 1973.

She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nevada and Davenport.

She is survived by two sons, Harold Buck of Brighton, Colo., and Earl Buck of Davenport; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. with the family present at the Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Nevada Adventist Church School.
