HE HAS GONE "HOME" A.D. Hans Schuetz, beloved father and friend unexpectedly passed away to be with his Lord on February 1, 2007. He was born to Walter & Anna Schuetz in Bromberg Germany on April 8, 1916. His younger years were spent in and around Berlin, Germany. His first career was as a ship board photographer on the "Rotterdam" going between Hamburg and New York. In 1939, during the war in Europe, he was drafted into the German Army, where he also did photography and film work. He married Annamarie Block in 1940. In the last days of the war, he was captured near Berlin and spent 3 ½ years as a prisoner of war in Russia near the Volga River and the town of Saratov. On December 13, 1951, he moved his family to Colorado Springs with the help of a contact he had made in New York who was now living in Colorado Springs. He later started Schuetz Construction and built many custom homes, condos and commercial projects around Colorado Springs with his son, Hans Michael Schuetz. He retired in 1992. He was a founding member of the German American Cultural Society in Colorado Springs. His retirement allowed him to write his memoirs of his time in prison, "Tell Em" which is in print in 3 Languages: English, German and Russian. His retirement also provided more time in the Word and more time to share his love of the Lord with others. He is preceded in death by his brother, Walter Schuetz; wife of 57 years, Annamarie; son, Jan Michael Schuetz; grandchildren, Christopher Hans and Kevin Michael Schuetz; and his second wife Ann. Because of his love of the Russian people, he made numerous trips to that country. Over the years, he befriended many people there and was instrumental in sending a group of their children to Kiel, Germany for education purposes. His most recent trip was just 6 months ago. He will be greatly missed by his son Hans Michael and daughter-in-law, Patricia Ann and all the good friends that shared prayer and study time together. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hans Schuetz Russian Children Memorial Fund: Bank at Broadmoor, C/O Nelda, 155 Lake Ave. Colorado Springs, CO 80906. A celebration of Hans' life will be held at the Grand Ballroom at Glen Eyre Castle 3820 N 30th St Colorado Springs, CO 80904 1:00 PM Thursday February 8, 2007
