Anyone who knew Minerva was aware of her unconditional love and support for her family. Since 1956 her family and friends admired her relentless pursuit of the latest medical advances in the treatment for juvenile diabetes on behalf of her son, Walter.
Minerva was also an extraordinary gardener who devoted much of her time to her finely manicured yard and exquisite flower beds.
Minerva was predeceased by her husband, Walter B. McCoy and son, Walter. She was also predeceased by her sisters and their husbands, Litia (Wayne), Thelma (L.H.) and Jesse (Billy) along with three nephews, Hank, Don and Derek. Minerva was also preceded in death by her close friend of over sixty years, Nancy Lee Haynes.
Minverva is survived by her daughter, Cheryl McLawhorn and her husband, Thomas; two beloved grandchildren of whom she was enormously proud, Tabitha and her husband, Brett and Alexander and his wife, Anne; six cherished great-grandchildren, Camden, Anson, Bobby, Nell, Lyla, and Beau. She is also survived by her sister- in-law, Mary Jane McCoy and treasured nieces and nephews.
Minerva’s family is grateful to the staff of Asbury Health and Rehabilitation Center at Aldersgate for the dignity, respect, infinite kindnesses and devoted care they provided throughout her joyfully lived final years.
