He farmed and ranched in the Sofia area and also drove a school bus in the 1940's. He was supervisor for the Dept of Agriculture's ASC Office for Union County in the 1950's.
The family moved to Portales in 1964, where he operated an Insurance agency.
He had a son Dr. Edwin Darrell Atchley deceased and a daughter Karol Smith of Amarillo.
Survived by a brother Gene Atchley of Clayton and a sister Genevieve Dillon of Albuquerque.
