Sarah was the daughter of Armindee Jane Russel. She married Timothy Brown on Jan 22, 1857 in Cortland County, NY. They were the parents of 8 children: Fremont, Elnora (Nellie), Mark, Ada, Edna, and 3 dying in infancy.


March 4 1921 - Humboldt Republican - On the old Russel homestead the 13th of March, 1837 at South Hill, Blodgetts Mills, Courtland county, N.Y. was born to Armindee Jane Russel a baby girl, Sarah Jane. At the age of twenty, 1857, she was united in marriage to Timothy Brown, of that place.

To this union were born 8 children, three dying in infancy, Nellie A. Bellows, Dec. 3, 1915, Fremond, Jan. 23, 1918.

There survive her three children: Ada, Mrs. Robert Struthers of Ivanhoe, Minn.; Edna, Mrs. Floyd Fawcett of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Mark of Elgin, Illinois; also two brothers, Franklin and Webster on the old home place.

Moving in 1859 to Stillman Valley, Ogle County, Illinois in 1882, coming to Ottosen, Iowa, later coming to Humboldt, where they resided for the past 17 years.

On the 23rd day of Feb., 1921 she passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert Struthers, Ivanhoe, Minn.

Her husband preceding her to the great beyond in 1914. She was a constant member of the Presbyterian church. The funeral was held from the Duncan undertaking parlors, Sunday afternoon Rev. H.Q. Spelman officiating.
